2009 Snark Finalist

It’s too early in the new year to determine the year’s best snark, but HillBuzz is certainly in the running for the 2009 Award with their piece on the new First Lady’s inaugural ball gown.

Calling the one-shouldered white creation by 26 year-old Jason Wu (No, I’ve never heard of him either), “Vintage Hanna Barbera, … looking like Wilma Flintstone covered in prehistoric dryer lint” definitely reaches the highest level of snark in my book.

  1. I love Hillbuzz! (Which is how I came to find your site…small world!) As for the ‘gown’, it reminds me of the chenille bedspreads my great grandma had. Hillbuzz has shared quite a few glamorous dresses worn by politicians and actors…it is always a great read.

  2. Has the Republican party seriously resorted to criticizing the CLOTHING of the Obama’s? Correct me if I am wrong, but aren’t there more important things you people should be focusing your attentions to?

I appreciate your openness to being corrected when you are wrong. If I may draw your attention to three points on which you have erred:

    1. The Republican Party is not responsible in any way for the content of this blog. It contains my personal opinions and the opinions of those who choose to comment.
    2. This particular post references a quote from another blog – HillBuzz – which is authored by a group of DEMOCRATS. You might want to check it out and learn that even within the Democrat party, not all are drunk on the Obama kool-aid.
    3. The use of an apostrophe on the word “Obama’s” is incorrect when the name is part of the prepositional phrase; it should read “Obamas” – plural not possessive. (Of course, you’ve also got the problem of ending a sentence with a preposition – but it might seem like I’m picking on you, given that your comment was only two sentences long.)

  4. Jenna must have forgotten all of the media attention of Palin’s wardrobe during the election. I guess that is part of the “We can say anything we want, but anything you say is wrong, racist, petty and/or mean spirited”.

To top it all off she then said “You people”, thank goodness we wouldn’t take that as a racist remark and ask “What do you mean ‘you people’?”

Was it not Barney Frank that recently said that the stimulas package should not be used to fund white and/or skilled people. Isn’t that racist? So maybe we should look at more important things,… like how the Democrat party has become a racist group that hates white people and tries to stop them from getting jobs.

  5. jlw ~ Thanks for your insight. I missed the racist/misogynist overtones to Jenna’s comments. So that makes 6 errors in less than 3 dozen words. Might be some kind of record – even for an Obamabot.
